Apanui Watene
Board Member
Born and raised in Hamilton. Received my Bachelor’s and Masters’s degrees from Waikato University. Married for 20years and a father of 4. Have worked in the tertiary sector for approximately 20years while running our family consultancy business with wife. The 5 F’s are important to me; Family, Friends, Food, Footy and Faith. I am also interested in Men’s wellbeing and am grateful to contribute what I can to Male Support Services Waikato.
Jane Searle
Board Member
Jane started her career as a barrister and solicitor, before joining the New Zealand Police. After qualifying as a detective, she worked on the child abuse team. Jane has also worked as a counter fraud specialist in the United Kingdom, where she led a team responsible for fraud detection and investigation in the National Health Service. After returning to New Zealand, Jane worked as a trainer and investigator for local government, financial institutions, insurance companies and the health sector, before joining Child Matters in 2015.

I am a stand for men to be free and fully self-expressed. I am committed to creating a world where women are safe and secure, and whanau are strong and thriving.
My whanau are from Ngaruawahia where I was raised and currently reside. I’ve been married to my beautiful wife Mona for 18 years, we have 5 tamariki.
I work for our tribal organisation Waikato Tainui as a content creator and producer for Tainui Live, our tribal media entity.
I am also the founder and leader of Arise Movement Mentoring and Initiation. We provide safe spaces for men and boys to create, connect and collaborate through Rites of Passage, holistic wānanga and men’s support groups.
I am passionate about making a difference for others and committed to each and every individual being empowered to author and create their own lives. It is an honour and a privilege to be a contribution to Male Support Services Waikato and to be of service to the men in our communities.
Sally Fenwick Ridley JP
Board Member-Chairperson
MSocSc, PGDipPsych, Grad Dip NFP Management
I have had a long association with Male Support Services Waikato and Mike Holloway and currently hold the role of Chairperson. I have a keen interest in the wellbeing and safety of children in our community and I am passionate about the work MSSW does to support men and boys and their families. I have been privileged to watch and contribute to the growth and development of the organisation over the years and look forward to the future.
